I am from netherland, i stayed in BGB last two year, unlinke many places in Kota Kinabalu is very very clean. The rooms are very easy to maintain(plastic curtain, ikea furniture, plastic wrapped matrasses) basic rooms. None of the rooms have their own bathroom. Two kitchens(food is cheap and delicous in the restaurants, so why cook???)Their website says they are in the center but whats centre? It takes about 10 minutes by taxi (7 ringgit) to get to the shopping centre, phillipine market and the jetty. The staff will call a taxi for you when you want to go out.
The staff is very helpfull and have a lot of knowledge about the area. The hostel is in a not very buzzing area which makes it perfect for a well deserved nights rest. I would recommend this place above others because of it cleanliness and helpfull staff. Remember the pick-up service from the airport!
