Malacca
Malacca is a state in Peninsular Malaysia that is rich in natural resources, history and folklore. Also known as "Negeri Bersejarah" or "Negeri Hang Tuah", the state was founded by Parameswara, a Srivijayan prince from Sumatra in the year 1396.
Malacca was where the Chinese, Portuguese, Dutch and English played their respective roles in shaping its history. What started as a small fishing village then grew into the most important port in the region, attracting traders from Java, India, Arabia and China,
and served as a transit point for China-India trade during the two monsoon periods.
Located in the southern part of the Malay Peninsula, on the Straits of Malacca, Malacca is also the the second smallest state in Malaysia with the state capital in Malacca Town.
Today, Malacca posesses a charm of its own. You can take a ride on a trishaw along the little streets to witness Malacca's colorful architectural styles. You can also cruise along the Malacca river.
