St. John Island

St. John Island was once a quarantine station for leprosy, a penal settlement as well as a drug rehabilitation centre.

Today, the island not only houses the Singapore Marine Aquaculture Centre, but is also a great getaway for the weekends from the stressful daily work. The island has beaches, picnic grounds, trekking routes; and also equipped with football fields and swimming lagoons.

The shores of St. John island is ringed by coral reefs and is home to different marine lifeforms. Occasionally, dolphins can be spotted from St. John island.
