The Allied Prisoners of War constructed a chapel while being held in Changi Prison using simple tools and the few materials available after the fall of Singapore during World War II. Although dismantled and later shippled to Australia, a symbolic replica of the chapel was built in Singapore. The Changi Chapel and Museum contains many items donated by the POWs, and houses the Changi Murals, which is a series |
of biblical-theme paintings that helped in uplifting the spirits of the prisoners during the war with 4 of them restored by the original British painter - Stanley Warren.
