Currency

The currency used in Singapore is Singapore dollars and its subunit in cents.

The notes come in denominations of $2, $5, $10, $50, $100, $1000 and $10 000; with $100, $1000 and $10 000 notes being rarely used.

The current series also exist a commemorative $20 bank note which remains fairly uncommon. Coins come in denominations of 1, 5, 10, 20, 50 and $1; with 1-cent coins no longer issued.

The currency of Brunei is interexchangeable with currency of Singapore. Brunei money is accepted on par in Singapore and can be used used at banks and anywhere else in Singapore.

Banking

The banking hours for most banks are as follows: Monday to Friday: 1000 - 1500 Saturday: 1000 - 1300 Exchanging of foreign currencies can be done at most banks, as with handling of traveller’s cheque which requires passport. However, some banks do not deal with foreign exchange on Saturdays.

Pre-Euro legacy currencies

Legacy national currencies before the advent of Euro can be at the Changi airport money exchange counters and at most money changers. However, a lower priced may be quoted when exchanging such currencies.
