Katong Laksa Wars

Laksa - A Peranakan dish that consist of rice vermicilli and curry gravy with coconut milk, often accompanied with cockles, toufu puffs, grounded dried shrimps and usually served with Vietnamese coriander and sambal chilli sauce.

Katong Laksa - A curry laksa eaten with only a spoon, made possible by cutting the noodles short, originating from the Katong area of Singapore.

As one of the contenders vying for the coveted spot of being Singapore’s National Dish, this is one of the favourite dish of Singaporean all time.

However, what makes the Katong Laksa so famous is the drama surrounding the 4 stalls that are all along the same stretch of road, that is at 47, 49, 57, 328 East Coast Road, each with claims like being the real McCoy, or the best.

There had been much media coverage in magazines, newspapers the television and even foreign media on the famous stretch.

Whatever their claims are, we suggest that you be the judge and take your time to sample what these stalls have to offer, then name your winner.
